MANUAL OF NURSING DIAGNOSIS, Ninth Edition, contains the evolving diagnostic language of professional nursing and includes all of the new and revised diagnoses from the fourteenth North American Nursing Diagnosis Association (NANDA) conference.

The Manual presents the nursing diagnosis taxonomy under the framework of Functional Health Patterns, created by Marjory Gordon. It provides a quick, pocket reference for students and practitioners to access nursing diagnoses and covers definitions, defining characteristics, and (when applicable) etiological or related factors for every NANDA-approved nursing diagnoses, as well as additional diagnoses developed by the author. It is organized into five parts:: (I) Functional Health Patterns Typology, (II) Functional Health Patterns Assessment Guidelines, (III) Use of Diagnostic Categories in Clinical Practice, (IV) Documentation:: Format and Example, and (V) Diagnostic Categories.
