Description

This interactive online aid teaches the basics of dosage calculation and tests students comprehension. Instructors can assign modules and track progress, or students can elect to use the course for reinforcement/remediation. Five core modules include the material usually covered in a traditional dosage calculation course. They focus on measurement systems, calculations for oral drugs, calculations for injectable drugs, and calculations for intravenous drugs. Each module consists of a tutorial, practice problems, case studies, and a module quiz. The course covers three methods of dosage calculation:: ratio and proportion, formula method, and dimensional analysis. The quiz portion of the course can be used with a gradebook to track students performance. Voiceover and dynamic visuals, including interaction during the learning process by the student, assist learners of all types (auditory, visual) in this difficult subject.
