Brain Injury, An Issue of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinics

This issue is dedicated to changes and advances in the world of Traumatic Brain Injury. Guest Editor James Young, MD, of Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, carefully selected chapters and contributors to present the changes that have occurred in virtually all aspects of the diagnosis and care of individuals with these life altering events. In addition to the traditional approaches to TBI, more and more patients and their families have turned to alternative courses of care. The results have varied greatly with each approach, but the interest is growing. Knowledge and a general belief of the various modalities are lacking, but probably overdue. In addition, with the time and financial constraints placed on patients and their caregivers, a discussion of the ethical problems faced and how the insurance companies are viewing their clients, is crucial. It is to this end, that the eclectic assortment of topics is proffered.
