In this issue of Clinics in Perinatology, guest editors Drs. Asaad Beshish and Holly Bauser-Heaton bring their considerable expertise to the topic of Epidemiology and Genetics of Congenital Heart Disease. Adult survivors of CHD commonly experience cardiac and non-cardiac comorbidities which affect quality of life and prognosis. Genetic etiologies of CHD have important clinical implications for genetic counseling of patients and families and can affect clinical outcomes by identifying at-risk patients. This issue highlights the epidemiology and genetic components of heart defects with an eye on future outcomes and quality of life.
