Cardiovascular disease refers to the class of diseases that involve the heart or blood vessels (arteries and veins). While the term technically refers to any disease that affects the cardiovascular system, it is usually used to refer to those related to atherosclerosis (arterial disease). Chronic heart failure (CHF) has emerged as a major world-wide epidemic. This new and important book gathers the latest research in cardiovascular disease with a focus on such topics as:: drug-induced valvular heart disease; cardiac pacing and cognition; oral bacteria in the hearts of patients with valvular disease; bicuspid aortic valve in athletes; chronic persistent infections as a risk factor for ischemic heart disease; rheumatic valvulopathy; shared susceptibility genes of metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease; and others.
Preface; Beneficial Clinical Effects of Perhexiline in Cardiac Patients:: Multiple Biochemical Mechanisms; Drug-Induced Valvular Heart Disease; Shared Susceptibility Genes of Metabolic Syndrome & Cardiovascular Disease; Cardiac Pacing:: A Review Chapter; Rheumatic Valvulopathy:: Current Understanding of Pathogenesis & Perspective of Immunobiological Treatments; Cardiac Pacing & Cognition:: A Review of Current Evidence; Oral Bacteria Detected in the Hearts of Patients with Valvular Diseases; Chronic Persistent Infections as a Risk Factor for Ischemic Heart Disease:: The Helicobacter Pylori Model; Bicuspid Aortic Valve in Athletes; Shared Triglyceride Metabolism-Associated Susceptibility Genes of Ischemic Stroke & Coronary Artery Disease; Some New Approaches to Heart Rate Variability Analysis; Alterations in Cell Cycle & Fetal Gene Re-Expression in Ischemic Heart Disease; Numerical Simulation of Hemodynamic in the Patient-Specific Aorta after Aortic Valve Replacement Based on MRI-Data; Prediction of Cardiac Mortality & Events by Myocardial Perfusion Imaging:: Differences between Japan & American Populations; Index.
