Sexuality and Occupational Therapy: Strategies for Persons With Disabilities

Sexual activity is considered to be an activity of daily living by the  Occupational Therapy Practice Framework , and it is valued among many people. Clients who experience an illness or injury are entitled to engage in that occupation, but sexuality is not typically or regularly addressed in occupational therapys clinical or educational settings. This book is intended for occupational therapy clinicians, educators, and students who seek to acquire greater understanding of how to address sexuality concerns in occupational therapy practice, including approaching the topic, understanding the specifics, and referring to an appropriate specialist in this area. Chapters discuss topics such as arthritis, cancer, diabetes, spinal cord injury, cardiovascular disease, traumatic brain injury, stroke, mental disorders, and adolescents with disabilities.
