Rehabilitation Nursing Process

Rehabilitation Nursing:: Process, Applications, and Outcomes equips the user with a solid foundation of concepts and principles, while maintaining the fundamental focus of rehabilitation nursing:: holistic care of the rehabilitation client to achieve maximum potential outcomes in functional and lifestyle independence. Rather than focusing on a specific chronic, disabling, or developmental condition, the holistic approach allows the user and the nurse to address health pattern disturbances most commonly seen in the rehabilitation client.

The third edition of Rehabilitation Nursing has been reorganized into 6 sections, building rehabilitation nursing knowledge in a logical sequence from concepts to implementation, enabling the user to apply theory to practice. The first 2 sections cover concepts, foundations, and management principles essential for client-centered rehabilitation programs. Section 3 focuses on improving client outcomes in clinical applications. Sections 4 and 5 cover rehabilitation nursing across functional health patterns, including sensory and psychosocial patterns. Section 6 focuses on special client populations, including pediatrics, gerontology, cardiac rehab, burn restoration, renal, and cancer rehab and restoration. A chapter on immune and regulatory systems focuses on the client with HIV. Throughout the text, the holistic health pattern approach to rehabilitation nursing is synthesized in critical thinking exercises and a client case study at the end of each chapter.
