Opis
This is the Canadian adaptation of the Fifth Edition of the AJN award-winning Community as Partner text. Focusing on public health promotion practices in Canada, this text examines the contemporary public health nurses role as a hands-on caregiver, community detective, and epidemiologist. Part One provides a Canadian perspective on the fundamental principles of community practice using the Ottawa Charter (1986) as its primary framework and incorporates the determinants of health, epidemiologic principles, the appreciation of culture and informatics, and the challenges of today and the future. Part Two presents the Community as Partner Model and each step of the process is detailed with the use of examples emphasizing the importance of social justice, equity, public participation, and the determinants of health. Part Three contains case studies with field-based practitioners of population health promotion from several disciplinary viewpoints. This edition places more emphasis on supportive environments for health, the five strategies of the Ottawa Charter, primary health care, and rural communities.
