Opis
Cell Therapy is comprised of thirty-one chapters. The subjects range from those describing basic research to those dealing with attempts at application to patients. In all of the chapters there is a wonderful display of available tools and techniques ranging from molecular biology to cell biology to clinical skills.

The book presents the state of the art at the present time and points directions for future research. It provides a valuable overview of all aspects of research designed to advance the field of somatic cell therapy.

Cell Therapy also includes a contribution from Professor Edward Donnall Thomas, 1990 Nobel Laureate in Medicine and co-recipient Joseph E. Murray for their discoveries concerning organ and cell transplantation in the treatment of human disease.

This work has been divided into three sections.

  • General aspects of somatic cell therapy, with various chapters which cover its::origin, evolution, biology, biomaterials, and ethics, among others areas
  • Cell sources for somatic cell therapy. Some of the chapters include subject areas coming from cells of the umbilical cord blood transplantation, hepatic stem cells, amniotic fluid derived pluripotent stem cells
  • This is a totally updated book (with the exception of some articles) no other publication treats this subject matter this way or in such depth
