Regulatory T cells (sometimes known as suppresser T cells) are a specialised sub-population of T cells that act to suppress activation of the immune system and thereby maintain immune system homeostasis and tolerance to self-antigens. This book presents topical research in the study of regulatory T cells, including the role of regulatory T cells in the treatment of multiple sclerosis and hepatocellular carcinoma; genetic engineering of antigen-specific regulatory T cells; regulatory T cells in arthritis, allergic disorders and immunomodulation; and the roles of immunoregulatory cells and the mechanisms of immune response.
Preface; T Helper 17 Cells Interplay with CD4+CD25highFoxp3+ Regulatory T Cells in Regulating Autoimmune Inflammation; Human CD8 Tregs as Contenders in Chronic Persisting Infections; Role of Regulatory T Cells in the Treatment of Multiple Sclerosis; Immunoregulatory Cells & Mechanisms of Immune Response; Roles of Regulatory T Cells in Oral Tolerance & Food Allergy; The Role of Regulatory T Cells in GVL & GVHD; Regulatory T Cells & Hepatocellular Carcinoma:: Implication of the Regulatory T Lymphocytes in the Control of the Immune Response; Regulatory T cells & Tumor Immunity in the Tumor Microenvironment; Advantages & Disadvantages of & Cooperation between CD8+ & CD4+ Regulatory T Cells; Regulatory T Cells in Arthritis:: Why Do they Fail?; Immune Homeostasis Maintained by Tregs; Regulating FOXP3 by Cis Elements; Genetic Engineering of Antigen-Specific Regulatory T Cells; Regulatory T Cells in Allergic Disorders & Immunomodulation; The Number of Regulatory T Cells:: Pursuit of the Golden Mean; Index.
