Opis

Cardiotocography, or CTG, uses ultrasound to measure a babys heart rate. At the same time it also measures the contractions in the uterus. CTG is used both antenatally and during labour to monitor the baby for any signs of distress (www.patient.co.uk).

The third edition of Practical Cardiotocography has been thoroughly revised to provide clinicians with the latest developments in the technique and interpretation of CTG.

Beginning with and introduction to the procedure, the following chapters discuss the technique of performing CTG and interpreting the results.

CTG in special circumstances including monitoring twins, preterm labour and cerebral palsy is covered and a separate chapter is dedicated to NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) guidelines.

Key points

  • Thoroughly revised, new edition covering practical cardiotocography (CTG)
  • Includes discussion on CTG in special circumstances
  • Separate chapter dedicated to NICE guidelines
  • Previous edition published in 2005
