Portfolios

The uniqueness of this text is in demonstrating the value of producing and maintaining a portfolio for personal, professional and academic practice, using an evidence base. Other texts in the field of portfolios concentrate on the development of portfolios in relation to professional development, life-long learning and do not cover the main areas of personal and academic development. They certainly do not focus on demonstrating and showing how the production and maintenance of a portfolio relates to using an evidence-based approach to practice.
Health and social care professionals will be able to use the text to support the development of their portfolio by using the three main chapters in the text focusing on how to use a portfolio for personal, professional and academic development. These chapters will take the health and social care professional through the structure and development of the portfolio pertaining to each area of practice. A case study approach will be used to clearly illustrate how each segment of the portfolio can be developed depending on the individuals needs. Practitioners will be able to build a portfolio using a staged approach with clear examples of how each stage is constructed.
