This book is unique in that the focus is on both epidemiology AND population based nursing and meets the AACN essentials criteria for advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) and the DNP, in particular. This population-based nursing text is designed as a primary course textbook for use in a doctorate in nursing (DNP) program or as a supplement to other course materials in a graduate community health nursing program. The text addresses the essential areas of content for a DNP Program that are recommended by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), with a focus on the AACN core competencies for population-based nursing. It provides readers with information they need to identify health care needs at the population level and to improve population outcomes, which are two important core competencies outlined by AACN for all DNP programs. Emphasis will be placed the identification of health care disparities and approaches that can be used to identify, mitigate or eliminate them altogether!
