Description
This volume is the first definitive clinical reference in the rapidly evolving subspecialty of pediatric otology and neurotology. Written by leading authorities, the book covers every aspect of the field, including clinically relevant basic science, current diagnostic modalities, neonatal and infant hearing screening, diagnosis and treatment of specific disorders, surgical issues in pediatric otology, and auditory rehabilitation. The major focus of the book is on the diagnosis, etiology, and treatment of the entire spectrum of otologic and neurotologic disorders encountered in pediatric patients. For each disorder, the text provides complete information on classification, epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, management, outcome, and complications. The contributors thoroughly examine controversial aspects of management, present and justify their own recommended treatment protocols, and offer guidelines for avoiding or solving common problems.
